A bit about

August 6, 2016: My first visit to Philadelphia

How did I learn English?

There were no advanced gadgets like today. There was no internet. All I needed was a paperback dictionary, a textbook, a notebook -- not a digital notebook indeed, and a pen or a pencil. Well, in short, I learned English in a traditional educational setting. You should be happy that you are enjoying your education in an era of advanced technology. Most of you might not like to spend too much time on a boring black and white dictionary, trying to find the meaning of words written in very small fonts, which sometimes made your eyes work harder. Most of you might not afford to sit quietly for at least 90 minutes on your solid wooden chairs while listening to boring explanations from your teacher, trying to understand with your own imaginations, and taking notes just to miss some words uttered by your teacher in front of the class. Yeah, but that was exactly how I learned English.

What I am telling you, please take the benefits of today's technology to improve the quality of your education, of your learning process. Look, you have got a device on your hand. You love it, you are proud of having it on your own. Your work and maybe your parents work to get the device of your interest. Well, you know what I mean, a Smartphone! The question is "are you smart enough to make optimal use of your Smartphone?" You should be able to answer the question for yourself. There are lots more, a laptop, notebook, MacBook, you name it! All they need is the internet, which is already existed a long time before. If you are living in big cities, you should easily and freely get internet access. to be continued...

TLT458 - First Meeting

Posted September 01, 2016

So, it was our first meeting for the course on Introduction to Multimedia Programming & Resource Development for Learning. I love this class because it has always been my dream to be able to build my own website and to utilize other Multimedia to promote a great alternative for teaching and learning in this era of advancing technology. Today's teachers and students should take time to learn with technology, not from technology.

My home classroom

This is my home classroom here in Bethlehem. Internet is very vital for the survival of my study so far. Well, I am working on online courses and it's really fun. I love it because there is no need to set your time to go out of your bedroom and rush to the campus just to get tired and need to take a breath for a little while before you start checking your bag, or trying to pay attention to the professor who has been there much earlier than you, ouch! There are lots more benefits of course. I hope you can find them by yourself as you are taking a tour on this site. Have fun!

A Hands-On Memory Box

Posted September 11, 2016

This is a box contained someone's old stuff like tickets to events, a map, a seashell, a Turkish bracelet, an "I love you" sticky note, etc. So, we were assigned to make an assumption about the personality of the memory box's owner. So, we were studying about empathy to build our framework in design thinking. Well, let's get out of the topic for a second, I am actually thinking of making the same thing to keep my memory here in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, USA. :) :) :)

Great Books, Great Reading
The required textbooks

I registered to three courses for my Fall semester 2016 and in this picture as you can see, I have three wonderful textbooks.

  • Cognitive Psychology and Instruction written by Roger H. Bruning, Gregory J. Schraw & Monica M. Norby. It talks a lot about theories of how the brain works and its implication in learning.

  • Meaningful Learning with Technology written by Jane L. Howland, David Jonassen & Rose M. Marra. It talks a lot about integrating technology in classrooms by explaining the difference between learning from technology and learning with technology.

  • Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association written by the American Psychological Association.
